Buying
What does a used 275-gallon IBC tote actually cost?
In 2026, expect $55 – $110 for as-is, $95 – $165 for rinsed, $120 – $225 for reconditioned, $210 – $365 for rebottled and $185 – $340 for food grade. Freight is the swing factor: a tote 200 miles from our yard can land cheaper than one 900 miles away in a better grade.
What is the minimum order?
One. You can collect a single tote from the Savannah yard during open hours. For delivery, the economics start working around 4 units on a lift-gate LTL and get genuinely good at 20+.
Can I inspect before I buy?
Yes, and we would rather you did. Walk the grading floor during open hours, or ask for serial-specific photos — interior through the lid, valve, cage welds and pallet — before you commit.
Do you tell me what was in the tote before?
Always, in writing, for every grade including as-is. If we cannot establish prior contents, the tote goes to the recycling stream rather than the sales floor.
Are used totes safe for drinking water?
Only food-grade units, and only if you sanitise before use. The bottle resin must meet FDA 21 CFR 177.1520 and the prior contents must be food-contact. A reconditioned ex-chemical tote cannot be promoted to potable duty by washing — grade does not travel upward.
How do I know the UN marking is still valid?
Composite IBCs carrying hazmat have a five-year service life from the moulding date on the plate, with a periodic leakproofness retest at 2.5 years. Read the two-digit year in the marking string and count. See our UN markings guide for a character-by-character breakdown.
Can I get totes with matching cages and pallets?
Yes — specify "uniform fleet" and we pull from a single reconditioning batch. It costs a little more and takes a few days longer, but your rack layouts and lift routines stay consistent.

Selling
Will you buy my empty totes?
If they are drained, structurally intact and the prior contents are non-hazmat, almost always. Send quantity, prior contents, grade condition and your zip code and you will have a number back the same business day.
What makes a tote worthless to you?
A cracked or crazed bottle with a sound cage still has value — we rebottle it. What kills value entirely: unidentifiable residue, hazmat without a manifest, a bottle that held something that permeated the HDPE (certain solvents and fragrances), or a sheared pallet with a bent cage on the same unit.
Do you pay for scrap totes?
Yes, by weight. Roughly 115 lb of HDPE and 60 lb of galvanised steel per 275-gallon unit, priced against prevailing regrind and mill markets at the time of pickup.
Who pays the freight when I sell?
We do, above 24 units inside our active lanes. Below that, or well off-lane, we net the freight against the purchase price and show you both numbers.
Can you clear out a whole yard?
That is our decommissioning service. We triage on site — resell, recondition, recycle — haul everything, and issue one diversion certificate for the entire clear-out.

Grades & Specs
What is the difference between reconditioned and rebottled?
Reconditioned keeps the original bottle and washes it. Rebottled discards the original bottle (into our granulator), fits a brand-new one, and reuses the cage and pallet. Rebottled is cleaner; reconditioned is cheaper and has the lower footprint.
Is a 330 just a taller 275?
Functionally yes — same 48 × 40 footprint, seven inches more height, about 20% more payload. The catches are trailer height, two-high storage limits and a gross weight near 2,910 lb that some mezzanine floors and older lifts will not take.
Why does my tote have a wooden pallet?
Because it was cheap for a one-way trip. Wood absorbs product, needs ISPM-15 treatment for export and fails fastest in a return loop. We swap to steel or plastic on request during reconditioning.
What gasket material should I specify?
EPDM for water, most aqueous chemistry and food duty. Viton for aromatics, solvents and fuels. Silicone for high-temperature food applications. Specify it at order time — a wrong gasket is the single most common cause of a weeping valve.
Can I stack filled totes?
Composite IBCs are generally rated three high filled for 275s and two to three for 330s, but the rating belongs to the specific assembly, not the size. Check the stacking load on the plate, and never stack a tote with a repaired pallet.
4 questions
Freight
How many empty totes fit on a trailer?
42 nested empties in a 53-foot van if the cages nest and you load two-wide, three-high. Non-nesting units drop that to 36. Filled, you are weight-limited long before you are space-limited: 18 filled 275s is about 44,000 lb.
Do you ship to all 50 states?
48. We are not set up for Alaska or Hawaii container freight, and the economics almost never work for a used tote.
Can you deliver without a dock?
Yes — lift-gate LTL for small orders, flatbed with ground-drop for larger ones. Tell us the site constraints up front; a reconsignment because the truck cannot unload is the most expensive mistake in this business.
How do you protect totes in transit?
Reusable corner board and strap dunnage, not stretch-wrap. It comes back on the next inbound and it does not become film waste at your dock.

Sustainability
Is reusing a tote really better than recycling it?
By a wide margin. Reuse avoids the full manufacturing burden of a replacement container — roughly 115 lb of virgin HDPE, 60 lb of galvanised steel and the energy to mould and weld them. Recycling recovers the material but still pays the re-moulding energy. Our carbon math page shows every coefficient.
How much CO₂ does buying used actually save?
About 126 kg CO₂e per 275-gallon composite tote against a new equivalent, dominated by avoided virgin HDPE (roughly 1.9 kg CO₂e per kg of resin) and avoided galvanised steel. The Reclaim Meter calculates it for your order quantity.
Can I get documentation for our ESG report?
Yes. Our diversion reporting service issues audit-ready certificates with unit counts, tonnage by material stream, methodology and coefficient sources — not a marketing badge.
What happens to a tote you cannot resell?
Bottle granulated into regrind, cage sheared and baled to mill spec, pallet reused or scrapped by material. Since 2017 no tote entering our gate has had a path that ends in a landfill.

Service & Support
Do you wash totes I already own?
Yes — toll washing. Send them in, we run the appropriate chemistry, test them, and return them with a wash certificate. Common for food plants rotating a captive fleet.
What is tote pooling?
You stop owning containers. We maintain a tagged pool, guarantee a replacement float, collect empties on a cycle, and bill per turn. It suits anyone shipping liquid to a fixed set of customers.
Can you cut down a tote for me?
Routinely. Open-top tubs, half-height troughs, hatch cut-ins and manifolded banks all come out of the fabrication bay. Tell us the opening dimensions and what you are pumping.
Do you handle hazmat residue totes?
We accept them for reconditioning and recycling with a manifest. We do not sell unwashed hazmat-residue totes to anyone, at any price.

Ordering
Why is there no phone number on this site?
Because we do not run a phone line. Every quote needs prior contents, quantity, grade, zip code and timeline written down, and a form captures that correctly the first time. Email and the forms on this site reach a trader in Savannah, and we answer within one business day.
How fast can you quote?
Same business day for standard grades and quantities. Mixed loads, UN re-certification and fabrication take two to three days because someone has to actually look at the units.
Do you take purchase orders?
Yes, with terms for established accounts. First orders are prepay or card unless you are a public entity.
Can I pick up myself?
Yes. 10305 Abercorn St, Savannah, GA 31406, during open hours — including Saturday mornings, which are pickup-only. Bring straps. We will load you.
What if the tote arrives damaged?
Photograph it before it leaves the truck, note it on the delivery receipt, and tell us within 48 hours. Freight claims without a noted receipt are nearly impossible to win, and we would rather replace the unit than argue.

Resin prices and used tote prices are not the same curve
Everyone assumes used container prices track polymer markets. They track freight, supply of empties and grade scarcity instead — and the lag runs in an unexpected direction.
