Six jobs, and what each one actually involves
Written honestly rather than aspirationally. Three of these involve being outdoors in a Georgia August.
Full time · Yard · Savannah
Wash line operator
Run the caustic, hot-water or solvent line: chemistry selection from the prior-contents record, cycle logging, triple rinse, conductivity verification. Training provided; what we cannot train is the discipline to run the right chemistry when the wrong one would be faster.
- Comfortable around caustic and PPE discipline
- Legible record-keeping
- Forklift certification or willingness to train
Full time · Yard · Savannah
Cage shop technician
Hydraulic press work, dye-penetrant weld inspection, shot-blasting, base repair and swapping. The judgement call that matters: deciding when a bowed upright presses straight and when a cage goes to the baler.
- Mechanical aptitude and press experience
- Weld inspection experience welcome, not required
- Willingness to reject a unit under time pressure
Full time · Yard · Savannah
Test bay technician
Leakproofness and hydrostatic testing, gauge trace records, UN marking under our reconditioner code. This role is the reason our reconditioned grade means something, and it is audited.
- Careful, documentation-first temperament
- Familiarity with DOT/UN packaging rules an advantage
- Comfortable saying no to a shipping deadline
Full time · Office · Savannah
Freight coordinator
Book LTL, flatbed and full-trailer moves across 48 states, batch collection runs by geography, manage reusable dunnage rotation and chase site constraints out of customers before the truck arrives.
- LTL and flatbed booking experience
- Tolerance for carriers and dock schedules
- Obsessive about asking "is there a dock?"
Full time · Office · Savannah
Trader
Read inbound requests, source across our yard and 38 partner yards, price grade and landed freight, and write the quote. Measured on used-first sourcing and repeat business — not on margin per unit and not on upselling grade.
- Written clarity under volume
- Numerate about freight and grade economics
- Prepared to recommend a cheaper grade and lose revenue
Part time, travel · Savannah-based
Partner yard auditor
Unannounced annual audits of certified partner yards against our wash chemistry, rinse, test and grading standard. Two yards have lost certification since 2021, and that number existing is the point of the role.
- Yard or process audit experience
- Comfortable delivering unwelcome findings
- Significant regional travel
How we work
Four things that are different here
Not perks. Structural choices that change what the job feels like day to day.
No commission on upselling grade
Traders are measured on used-first sourcing and repeat business. Recommending a customer down from food grade to reconditioned because the job does not need it is a positive performance signal here, which is not true at most of our competitors.
You can refuse a unit
Wash line and test bay staff can reject a container and nobody overrides them to hit a ship date. That authority is written down. It is also the only reason our grading means anything.
No phone line to answer
Everything is written, which means fewer interruptions, a record of every commitment, and no shift spent on hold. People who have worked a sales floor tend to notice this within a week.
Small enough to see the whole loop
Thirty-one people. A wash line operator can walk twenty feet to the grading floor and see what happened to the units they processed. In a large plant nobody ever finds out.
Practicalities
The things people ask before applying
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Location | 10305 Abercorn St, Savannah, GA 31406 — all roles on site, no remote positions |
| Hours | Yard roles Mon – Thu 7:00 – 16:00, Fri 7:00 – 14:30. Some Saturday rotation for pickups |
| Training provided | Forklift certification, chemistry handling, PPE, UN marking procedure |
| Physical requirements | Yard roles: lifting to 50 lb, standing shifts, outdoor work in all seasons |
| Certification required to start | None. Forklift certification helps but we will train |
| Travel | Only the partner yard auditor role; roughly 40% regional travel |
| How to apply | The form on this page. Pick "General question" under Select service and tell us which role |
| What to include | Which role, your availability, and anything you have worked with that involved chemistry, forklifts or freight |
Applying through a lead form?
Yes, and we know it is unusual. We run one inbox and one set of forms, and a job application routes to a person the same way a quote request does. Put the role in the Message field, your unit count can be 1, and product type can be “Mixed Load / Not Sure”. Nobody will hold the form fields against you.

What the working week actually looks like
Written plainly because three of these roles involve being outdoors in a Georgia August and that should not be a surprise on day one.
| Role | Environment | Physical demand | Hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wash line operator | Covered bay, wet, warm, chemical PPE | Standing shift, lifting to 50 lb | Mon – Thu 7:00 – 16:00, Fri to 14:30 |
| Cage shop technician | Covered, noisy, press and blast cabinet | Standing, repetitive handling | Same |
| Test bay technician | Covered, quieter, documentation-heavy | Moderate | Same |
| Freight coordinator | Office, phones and screens | Low | Mon – Fri, some early starts |
| Trader | Office, written work | Low | Mon – Fri |
| Partner yard auditor | Travel, other people’s yards | Moderate; driving | Flexible, ~40% travel |
Saturday mornings are a rotation rather than a requirement — the yard is open 9 AM to 1 PM for pickups and that is covered by two people on a rota, not by everyone.
Training
What you learn here, in what order
Nobody arrives knowing this trade. These are the capabilities people build, roughly in the sequence they build them.
- 01
Weeks 1 – 2: grading language and PPE
Before any equipment, you learn what the six grades mean and why grade never travels upward. It is two days of reading and it is the foundation of everything else here.
- 02
Weeks 2 – 6: forklift and yard operations
Certification provided. Load centres, derating, and why a filled 330 of dense product is not the same object as an empty one.
- 03
Months 2 – 4: wash chemistry selection
Which line a residue class goes to and why running the wrong one can make a residue harder to remove rather than merely failing to clean it.
- 04
Months 4 – 8: inspection judgement
Bowed against kinked, weld crack recognition, crazing in transmitted light, odour after the 48-hour hold. This is the part that takes longest and cannot be shortcut.
- 05
Months 6 – 12: UN marking and test procedure
For test bay roles. Reading marking strings, periodic schedules, test procedure and marking control under our reconditioner registration.
Short answer
- Forklift certification and chemistry handling provided
- No certification required to start
- Wash line and test bay staff can reject a unit; nobody overrides them
- Traders are measured on used-first sourcing, not margin per unit

Our grading floor is deliberately boring
Six labelled bays, one decision per unit, no judgement calls allowed at the end of a shift. Interesting processes produce inconsistent grades.

Why we answer in one business day and not instantly
We could return a price in four seconds. It would be wrong often enough to be worse than useless, and here is the specific arithmetic of why.

Our first failed partner yard audit
We decertified a yard in 2021. They were not cutting corners on purpose — they were running one wash chemistry, and that is enough.
